The cylinder head is the conductor of the engine, orchestrating the many events that lead to combustion. If high engine performance is desired, attention to the cylinder head is crucial. In fact, only careful modifications to the cylinder head will allow an engine to rev properly and make power to redline. Not only volume, but velocity of the intake charge will increase performance. Because of this, careful shaping of the ports will not only increase the volume of air traveling through the ports, but maintain increased air-charge velocities at lower RPMs, contributing to a strong torque curve through the power band.
